Undermount sinks are attached to the underside of the countertop in which they sit. Undermount installation is supported from underneath by the base cabinet structure and is also held in place by mounting hardware under the countertop.
The seamless transition offers an attractive and minimalist presentation, aesthetically providing a neat and uncluttered look. The continuous flow into the sink makes for updated and easy cleaning. These sinks take up less counter space than an overmount sink due to the edges being on the underside of the countertop. The saved space reclaims up to half a square foot of counter space. Undermount sinks are best suited for solid-surface countertop materials like granite, soapstone, marble, or concrete.
